La Ruta del Tequila is making its way to the San Francisco Bay Area for the first time and is looking to attract tourists to take part in an unforgettable passage in the heartland of tequila.
In 2007, the Mexican government began promoting La Ruta del Tequila, using California Napa Valley?s wine route as a model to attract tourist to numerous distilleries located in the state of Jalisco, La Ruta del Tequila is a one-of-a-kind tourist destination that offers a total of 120 kilometers to fully submerge yourself in the tequila culture.
Come admire the architectural style of old haciendas, mansions and taverns, roam through the beautiful blue agave fields on horseback and enjoy exquisite tequila tastings while listening to live mariachi music. Observe the tequila harvest process firsthand and visit world known tequila distilleries such as Jose Cuervo, Sauza, Cazadores and Herradura. Take an adventurous hike along the Tequila Volcano, rappel down La Cascada de Aguacatillo, explore the opal and obsidian mines or drift along the entire Ruta del Tequila aboard a hot air balloon.
La Ruta del Tequila offers a variety of excursion packages, lasting anywhere from 4 to 8 hours or overnight packages with hotel accommodations. Packages can be customized to meet tourist?s personal needs and preferences in accordance, for example, to the number of people, age and availability of time.
